FOR MICHIGAN EXAM TEACHERS
ECCE and ECPE marking, with feedback on every rating scale criterion
ECCEECPE
Bandwise marks Michigan ECCE (B2) and ECPE (C2) Writing and Speaking practice on the rating scale criteria, tells you whether the work is at the pass standard (with a borderline band for the close calls), and estimates the score on Michigan’s 0–1000 scale. You review it before any student sees it.

WHAT YOU GET
Built for Michigan teachers
ECCE Writing
The essay or the email or letter option, marked on Content and Development, Organization and Connection of Ideas, Linguistic Range and Control, and Communicative Effect.
ECPE Writing
The essay or the article or proposal option, marked on Task Completion, Development, Language and Authorial Voice, including whether the student used and integrated the sources.
Ready for the exam, or not yet
Every piece of writing and speaking gets a verdict against the pass standard, with a borderline band where it could go either way, and a rough estimate on the 0–1000 scale (pass 650).
Speaking from the recording
ECCE and ECPE Speaking are marked from the audio. For the paired ECPE test, upload one recording and say which voice is which student: each gets their own assessment.
Mistakes corrected and explained
Each mistake in an essay corrected with a short reason, the mistakes that keep coming up named, and practice sheets from the student’s own sentences.
Progress towards the certificate
Each student’s history per section against the pass standard, and progress reports emailed from your own address under your own brand.
Listening, Reading and the certificate estimate
Enter the number of correct answers in Listening or in the Grammar, Vocabulary and Reading section (GVR in the ECCE, GCVR in the ECPE) for a rough 0–1000 estimate (Michigan doesn’t publish its conversion, so this is Bandwise’s approximation). Combine all four sections for a certificate estimate: Pass, Low Pass or Honors.
You stay the examiner
Estimates are a starting point, not a verdict. Bandwise shows the evidence for each criterion, flags what it cannot judge, and nothing reaches a student until you have reviewed it. How Bandwise AI works.
QUESTIONS
Michigan marking: frequently asked
Does Bandwise mark both the ECCE and the ECPE?
Yes. Writing (both task options) and Speaking for each, with Listening and Reading estimated from the raw score and an overall certificate estimate.
How does Bandwise decide if a script is at the pass standard?
For the ECCE, the rating scale marks 3 as the standard on every criterion. The ECPE scale marks no standard, so Bandwise uses its own rule, calibrated against Michigan’s official rated samples. Scripts close to the line are marked borderline.
Is the 0–1000 score official?
No. Michigan doesn’t publish how ratings or raw scores convert, so the score is Bandwise’s rough estimate. Bandwise is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Michigan Language Assessment.
