B2 First (FCE)B2 First for SchoolsC1 Advanced (CAE)C2 Proficiency (CPE)

Bandwise marks B2 First, B2 First for Schools, C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency practice work on Cambridge’s own assessment scales, says whether it meets the pass standard, and estimates the result on the Cambridge English Scale. You review it, then hand students feedback with a next step for every subscale.

THE OFFICIAL CRITERIA

What Bandwise marks, criterion by criterion

WHAT YOU GET

Built for Cambridge teachers

Writing Part 1 and Part 2

The compulsory essay and every Part 2 genre the exam offers (article, email, letter, proposal, report, review or story), each marked from 0 to 5 on Content, Communicative Achievement, Organisation and Language, with the word range for the level.

Pass standard and scale score

Each task is out of 20, as Cambridge marks it. You see whether the work meets the exam’s pass standard and a rough estimate on the Cambridge English Scale, from Cambridge’s practice-test conversion.

Paired speaking, one recording

Cambridge Speaking is taken in pairs or threes. Record or upload the test once, say how to recognise each of your students, and each gets their own assessment on the analytic criteria and Global Achievement.

B2 First for Schools

Marked for school-age learners: Bandwise judges the language, not the maturity of the ideas, and offers the story task in Part 2.

Mistakes corrected and explained

Every grammar, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation mistake corrected with a one-line reason, better wording one step above the student’s level, and practice sheets from their own sentences.

Set work for a whole class

Give a CAE or FCE class one task and prompt, see who has handed in, and mark a stack of essays in one go.

Reading, Use of English, Listening and the grade

Enter the raw score from the book’s answer key and Bandwise converts it to the Cambridge English Scale with Cambridge’s practice-test tables. No AI is used. Combine a full practice test into an overall scale score and grade estimate.

You stay the examiner

Estimates are a starting point, not a verdict. Bandwise shows the evidence for each criterion, flags what it cannot judge, and nothing reaches a student until you have reviewed it. How Bandwise AI works.

QUESTIONS

Cambridge marking: frequently asked

Which Cambridge English exams does Bandwise mark?

B2 First (FCE), B2 First for Schools, C1 Advanced (CAE) and C2 Proficiency (CPE): Writing and Speaking with AI-drafted marks you review, and Reading, Use of English and Listening from the raw score.

Does Bandwise use the official Cambridge assessment scales?

Yes. Writing is marked on the four subscales Cambridge examiners use, and Speaking on the analytic criteria and Global Achievement for the exam’s level, weighted as Cambridge weights them.

Can it mark a paired Cambridge speaking test?

Yes. Upload one recording of two or three candidates and say how to recognise each of your students. Each student gets their own assessment, judged on their own performance, never compared with their partner.

Is the Cambridge English Scale score official?

No. It is a practice estimate from Cambridge’s published practice-test conversions. Bandwise is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Cambridge University Press & Assessment.
